The old debate continues, which one is better, a glitzy, land-based casino or the convenience of playing online? This is clearly a personal choice, as both cater for the needs of different clientele.

No one can deny that the land-based casinos offer the excitement and enjoyment of socialising and interacting with other gamblers. There is an ambience, an air of risk, mixed with the thrill of the potential winnings that may lie ahead. On the other hand this is not to everyone’s taste, some may prefer to gamble in the peace and quiet of their own home with a computer as company; they may not be interested in the social element of a land-based casino. Online casinos are seen to be a cheaper option as there are no travel costs associated with playing online; they are also quicker, as there is less time spent hanging around waiting for a table to be cleared, thus maximising actual gambling time. 

It is safe to say that both types of casinos are popular and the preference is very much an individual one.

Bingo – a great social game

Bingo is a game that was originally devised in the late 16th century by the Italians.  Bingo was, initially, referred to as Lotto, in Germany the game was used as a mathematical teaching device for children, it has since evolved into a game for all age ranges.  Later on, in the early 1900’s, an American toy salesman called Edwin S.  Lowe brought the game to America, It was not until the 1960’s that bingo games began to be seen in the United Kingdom, where become popular as a commercial venture, being played in halls and allowing players to win prizes.  The game of bingo is still evolving today, with around three million people currently playing through the internet.

EuroMillions

EuroMillions is an international lottery game, launched in February 2004 by lottery companies in France, Spain and the UK. The game was only played by the three founder members in its early months, but Ireland, Belgium, Austria, Luxembourg, Portugal and Switzerland joined in, in early October. The game has since become available to residents of Andorra, Liechtenstein and Monaco. Draws take place in Paris, twice weekly, on Tuesdays and Fridays. 

The price of EuroMillions tickets varies slightly across participating countries, with UK tickets currently costing £2 per line. All EuroMillions prizes are tax free and paid to the winning ticket holder in a lump sum. Players must select five numbers from fifty available, plus two “lucky stars” from a selection numbered 1-11.

The minimum legal age for participation varies with country, but in most players must be aged 18 or over. In the UK residents aged 16 or over are allowed to play. 

Matching just two main draw numbers is enough to win the lowest available prize, with multi-million euro jackpots normally being won by players who match all five main numbers and the two lucky stars.

What is Roulette and how is it played?

Roulette is one of the most popular games that can be played in a casino. The name comes from the French phrase for ‘little wheel’. Most popular gambling systems

Martingale

The martingale is the simplest system and is mainly used for roulette; the entire system is based around losing. Each time you lose, you double your bet. Anti-martingale

The anti-martingale system is the exact opposite. Every time you win, you double your bet. When you lose, you return to your original bet. This system works better for those with smaller amounts to spend.

D’Alembert

The d’Alembert system is based around the fact that two events will occur an equal number of times in the long run. The bet changes by one unit, which is determined by the player, each time you win or lose. Every time you lose the stake increases by one unit, since the odds of a win become greater. When you win, the stake decreases by one unit, since the odds of a loss become greater.

Progression

The progression system is extremely similar to the martingale system. The only exception is that you do not double your bet with each loss. Instead, you increase your bet with each loss in order to recoup losses and lock in a profit.

Regression

The regression system is often used by those who wish to start off high. The first bet is large and decreases after you win or lose. This gives you a boost if you win, but can hurt if you lose. Smaller stakes, afterwards, help even out winnings.
