Online Bingo to Take the Top Spot

With many of the online gambling sites, only a small section used to be dedicated to bingo, and it was not a very popular internet game.  However, William Hill Bingo and Paddy Power Bingo have now become major gaming sites on the internet and if the rise in popularity of online bingo continues, bingo will become the number one online gambling game.  Bingo still has a long way to go, but thanks to the usability and enjoyment levels that these sites offer, the online game is attracting a whole new audience to online gambling.

The fact that the sites are geared towards people having a good time, and replicating the atmosphere and enjoyment of the popular bingo halls, means that more and more younger women and men are choosing to play.  Many people enjoy the relaxed atmosphere that is generated by the sites, as well as their forums and live chat, which can be a far cry from the seriousness and competitive nature of online poker sites.  Bingo appeals to the masses, as it is a fun and stress free game for all to enjoy.

Tha Basics of Football Betting

One of the most popular of the world’s betting opportunities is football betting, whether to make a bit of extra cash or simply to add to the intrinsic excitement of watching the match. The FIFA World Cup, for example, attracts a huge amount of betting and easily outstrips all other sporting events in the number of betting opportunities on offer.

Football betting has many permutations, with the full time and half time result being the most basic of them. The former is a wager on the outcome of the match following 90 minutes of normal time, including injury time but excluding extra time and penalties. It is normally expressed as WLD (Win-Lose-Draw). The half time result wager is the same as the full time result bet but ends at half time. A draw is one of the possibilities in both these types.

The double result bet has nine possible outcomes, including a draw, with the punter betting on both the full time and half time results.

With the Asian handicap bet, the team designated the underdog is allocated a handicap, which might be a half goal or more, with the favourite also having a half goal or more deducted from their final score. It was originally introduced in the Far East but has become globally popular because it introduces even betting opportunities.

There are numerous other types of football betting, including total goals, correct score and last goalscorer, to name but a few, so the football bettor has a range of options to suit their tastes.

Top casino games

There are many games that are traditionally found in casinos and each one requires the player to stake money on a possible outcome. The same games may be found in online casinos and may also be played in other venues for entertainment purposes.

Casino games can be divided into sub-categories. Table games are played at a table and generally use a live dealer or croupier. Card games, such as Blackjack and Poker, are classed as table games, as are dice or tile games, such as Craps. Most casinos will also have a number of electronic gaming machines, where customers insert metal tokens to play. Depending on where you are in the world, these may be referred to as slot machines, fruit machines, slots or pokies. The object of the game is to win money from the machine, often by matching symbols on a number of spinning reels. Video slot machines are another variety of electronic gaming machine, where there are no moving parts at all. Instead, the game is displayed using computer graphics. Some casinos may be entirely made up of electronic gaming machines and have no dealers or croupiers at all. This may be to save money on staffing costs, but may also be because the venue does not have a licence for table games. These establishments are sometimes known as amusement arcades.

The final common category of casino game is the random number game, the most popular being Keno and Bingo. Both are played using paper tickets or cards and numbers are selected using a random number generator. Roulette may also be classed as a random number game, even though it is played at a table.

What is Craps?

Craps is a casino game in which players stake money on the outcome of the roll of one or more dice. There are also street versions of craps, whereby players bet against each other, but in a casino setting players normally bet against the house.

Each player will take turns to be ‘the shooter’ or the person rolling the dice. As many players who wish to bet on the outcome place bets by putting down chips on different areas of the board.  The simplest bet to place is a ‘fire bet’, wagering that the shooter will be able to roll the dice more than four times in the round. ‘Single roll’ bets relate to the outcome of a single dice roll. This can be either single numbers or a range of numbers. More complicated is the ‘multi roll’ bet, which predicts the outcome of an entire round of play and the ‘line’ bet, which is placed on or against the shooter rolling a win, craps or a point.

Online Casino Etiquette

Online casinos allow players to connect from all over the world and play a single game, and an online casino sees players of different dispositions and languages playing against each other and the house.  As in the real world, the virtual casino also has rules of etiquette to which players need to adhere.

Playing Etiquette

A player at an online casino is expected to know the rules of the game he or she is playing.  New players who are not sure of the rules may observe a couple of rounds or hands in spectator mode.  Several online casinos have automated player or “bot” rooms where new players may learn the rules of the game being played, without betting real money or playing against human players.

Chat Etiquette

Once in a game with other people, several of the basic etiquettes of chat and video chat apply to an online casino.  Chat spamming, microphone spamming, loud conversations and delaying tactics are inappropriate and may be penalised by the dealer or the online casino management.  Penalties could include revocation of access and even loss of winnings if disruptive behaviour results in losses to other players.

Gaming on the go

By now we are all familiar with the phenomenon of online gambling. The internet has thrown open the betting market to a whole new audience of home gamers who are making money without stepping out of their front door. So what is the next step for gambling technology? It could be sitting in your pocket right now.

Gambling applications for smartphones have been predicted as the next major development, ever since mobile operators declared betting to be one of the next big crazes for customers using 3G networks. UK betting companies claim that the number of mobile customers using their apps has exploded in the last year, with one of the major companies in the sector, reporting £1 billion taken in online bets in the financial year 2010/11. An increase on that figure is expected this year, as more money is invested in mobile technology. As the user experience continues to improve, your smartphone may soon be the most simple and convenient way to place your bets.

2013 Super Bowl: Three Teams to Avoid with Early Bets

The euphoria of the recent Super Bowl win is rampant in New York and even more so in anyone who had the foresight to lay down big money on the Giants.  Currently an increasing number of UK bettors wish to get involved in the action.  Fittingly, the sports betting odds for next year’s NFL champion are out now, just in time to reel in people attempting to find the 2013 version of the 2012 Giants.  If you choose to take your chances on a bet this early here are three teams who do not deserve a significant wager.

The New York Giants (15/1)

Eli Manning was great this year and the defence will get their best cornerback next year in the form of Terrell Thomas.  With that being said, this is the NFL and teams simply do not repeat as conference champions.  Over the past 12 seasons, only the 2004 Patriots returned to the Super Bowl after winning the year before with the Philadelphia Eagles in their division and the San Francisco 49ers, Packers and New Orleans Saints lurk just behind them.

The Baltimore Ravens (14/1)

The axiom, “Defense wins championships,” is tried and true but the word “old” is nowhere in that sentence.  Ray Lewis, Ed Reed and Terrell Suggs will be a year older and it’s been 11 years since the franchise reached the ultimate game.  They may still have one last run left but, at 14/1, the odds don’t warrant a play when there are equally enticing teams that will earn better money.

The Dallas Cowboys (18/1)

Tony Romo is still going to be the quarterback and that means the Cowboys will fall apart down the stretch.  Realistically, they are not even a safe bet to finish in the top two of their division.  If you want to take a shot on a team that has not proven a winning pedigree, look to the bigger pay outs of the Cincinnati Bengals (40/1) and the Chicago Bears (28/1).

Bingo Across the World

The game of bingo has long been a popular group activity and has often been used to bring together communities of people, as regular players, under the same roof.  When commercial bingo was first introduced to the United Kingdom in the 1960’s it was a huge success, and many bingo halls opened across the country, giving people a place to meet and share their love of the game.

In the United States of America, bingo was seen much earlier, around the early 1900’s, and was introduced to the country by a toy salesman, Edwin S.  Lowe.  In the US, a 75-ball bingo game is played, with a 5×5 grid card of numbers that players cross off until the first person manages to clear the whole thing and shout “bingo” as a sign that they have won.

Across Europe and even in some parts of Australia and Southern America, a different type of bingo is played, and is officially called 90-ball bingo.  The premise of the game is exactly the same as the US version but the arrangement of the numbers on the cards is different, this time a 9×3 square grid is used.

As the game became internationally more popular, many people took pleasure in the community aspect of the game, with regular players becoming friends and a sense of companionship accompanied bingo games.

Today, now the internet has become fully established bingo has been introduced online, with many different bingo sites offering both the US and other variations of game to a number of players.  Chat facilities are now offered alongside most online bingo games, encouraging the sense of community even when players are not sitting in physical proximity to one another.

There are many features for online bingo that allow the player more freedom to chat, such as auto daubing and ‘best card highlighting.’  In addition to these facilities there are also free online bingo games available to those either wanting to try the game over the internet, or who are not interested in playing for money and prizes.

Overall, online bingo has brought the game firmly into the 21st Century, ensuring its enjoyment by many, for years to come.

Champion Hurdle Contenders

The Champion Hurdle is one of the highlights of the Festival betting week. A fiercely contested race, it pits the fastest hurdlers from England and Ireland against each other, over arguably the most testing course in National Hunt racing.

History tells us that horses that have been bred for Flat racing or have an illustrious pedigree tend to dominate the Champion Hurdle. Istabraq remains the fastest horse over the distance, but that record may be broken soon. Speed is of the essence, but experience over hurdles is also a vital attribute.

The large number of runners can be daunting to gamblers interested in placing a bet on the Champion Hurdle. Following a few basic tips might help to narrow down the potential selections.

•    It pays to beware of the short-priced favourite. In recent Champion Hurdles favourites have tended to lose; in fact the favourite has not won since 2006. On the other hand, outsiders priced at 20-1 or greater in the Cheltenham betting can usually be discounted.

•    Following the top jockeys is usually a recipe for success. In a race that requires excellent timing, where it is important to avoid being bumped or hemmed-in, it is often the most experienced jockeys who tend to have the best records.

•    Checking a horse’s age can be a useful clue. Eight year-olds have been particularly strong in recent Champion Hurdles.

•    Irish horses have an excellent record in this race. If substantial Irish betting support suggests a challenger is well fancied, then its chances certainly have to be respected.
